On Monday, I made the difficult decision to retire Wizard. I am glad the trainers were suportive and agreed with my decision to retire him, I feel a little better since rtiring him I feel like I no longer have to deal with the guilt of not going out enough combined with the sadness of seeing him not want to work. I probably will not get another dog anytime soon.

honestly, I don't know your situation, but retiring a dog is one of the hardest decisions we must make. it sounds like you are keeping him, which is a good thing for both of you too I'm sure. my dog is nine and I made the difficult decision to give her a well deserved rest. she's a wonderful girl but it is very apparent to me that she's just plain tired. so I can relate to wht you are going through.

I'm glad you were able to make the decision you feel is best, but sorry you have to go through this at the same time.

It was a hard decision, I really want to get another guide dog down the road, but my lifestyle is just not active enough right now, and since I take Uber everywhere or access, the dog would not have any routes, so I don't think a dog is right for me at this time.

Awe what a bit decision you had to make but at least you made the best one for you and i can understand about your view on not getting another dog but at least you still have your best mate with you at home so you can still spend time with him which is nice, smiles.
